The Rifles are taking over Palace Green, by the Cathedral between 1-6pm on 15th June. There will be free activities for all of the family running throughout the day. Come and see if you have what it takes to pass the Army’s new fitness tests, see the different types of equipment used on operations across the world and discover the historic links The Rifles share with the community through The Durham Light Infantry Collection. There will be musical performances throughout the day from the Band and Bugles of the County Durham Army Cadet Force, which will culminate in a Sounding Retreat, musical showcase, at 5pm.

The Rifles formed in 2007 when four of the most famous Regiments in the British Army merged together into a modern and exciting large regiment optimised for 21st Century warfare. Formed in the crucible of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, The Rifles holds an incredible 913 battle honours, world record 117 Victoria Crosses (VC) and has a living history that is second to none.

Free parking is available at Durham County Hall. Please contact 01388 660061 for more information or find 8 RIFLES on twitter for updates in the lead up to the event
