Care Packages Provided – Week 2

Spennymoor Town Council were really pleased to receive some further funding from the Spennymoor Area Action Partnership and Livin to go shopping, on 1st April and pull together more care packages for vulnerable people in Spennymoor.  Spennymoor Police, The Learning Library (which works with children and young adults with Special Educational Needs) and Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust supplied details of their clients or others they knew are vulnerable.  Asda in Spennymoor was brilliant, allowing Council Staff to shop at 7am, they provided 150 free Bags for Life, and a dedicated check-out staffed by Rachel.  A big thank you to Rich, Debs and all of the staff.  Council staff and Members made up the packages back at the Town Hall and helped with delivery alongside the wonderful volunteers from the Helping Spennymoor Group and Marion – the Manager of the Learning Library.  It was heartwarming to see shelves almost fully stocked again and the craziness of the past couple of weeks seems to have subsided.

Next week will be our final project, working with Livin who will provide a list of vulnerable clients, before we hand over to a new project which is being run from the Spennymoor Youth and Community Centre.  Any leftover shopping and/or funding from the Town Council will be donated to this project to assist them going forward.
