Alf Snell is a north east artist specialising in paintings of days gone by. He retired in 1995 after a career in teaching and Deputy Head Teacher at Pennywell School Sunderland. He attended evening classes at Biddick School 1990-2000. He has always enjoyed drawing and took up painting in 1995 trying various mediums before setting down to oils. His artistic influences are nostalgic scenes of Sunderland, and his 1950s youth. He prefers to paint in oil on canvas.
