Spennymoor Youth Council is a community project facilitated by Spennymoor Town Council. The youth council is nonpartisan and does not represent the views of Spennymoor Town Council.
The Youth Council aims to promote young people’s voices and empower their opinions. As a Youth Council, we undertake community projects, fundraise and debate issues that relate to young people. The age range for the council is from 12 to 20. ty work, fundraise, and debate issues relating to young people. A Youth Mayor and Deputy Youth Mayor is elected annually to represent the Youth Council and Spennymoor both regionally and nationally.

At the AGM, a youth Mayor and deputy youth Mayor, chairperson, vice chair, secretary, treasurer are elected to these posts by all members of the council.

At the moment we have 10 youth councilor’s, at the AGM we also decide on a charity that we are going to support over the following year.
We meet on the first Monday of the month 4:00pm at Spennymoor Town Hall.
We have just facilitated/ organised the first ever colour run in Spennymoor, where we had over 350 members of the community of all ages take part.
We are now planning further community events: Watch this space for information.
